For voco Makkah by IHG, Xinmao Metal supplied the stainless steel coverings for the elevator lobby and custom metalwork for the lobby chandelier. The package was designed around the hotel's patterned wall surfaces and timber feature wall, so the metal adds definition without competing with the surrounding materials.

The gold-toned elevator surrounds create a warm frame around each opening. Their repeated proportions give the lobby a steady rhythm, while the reflective surface picks up the ceiling light and the pale stone floor. The effect is practical and decorative at the same time: the elevator zone is easy to read, but it still feels like part of the hotel's interior design.

Elevator coverings that keep a repeated lobby calm

When several elevators sit along one wall, small inconsistencies quickly become visible. The width of each surround, the line above the doors and the return beside the patterned wall all need to agree. Custom stainless steel coverings give the lobby a clear edge around every opening and help the repeated doors read as one architectural composition.

The gold finish brings warmth to the otherwise light palette. It works with the geometric wall pattern rather than copying it, adding a clean vertical frame to the textured surface.
