Custom stainless steel screen

Black Cross Motif Laser Cut Stainless Steel Screen

Laser-cut stainless steel screens pair bold cross motifs with rectangular openings for distinctive retail, office and architectural interior partitions.
Product Features

Black cross-motif laser-cut metal screens combine square cutouts and framed solid accents for retail, corporate and contemporary residential spaces. Check cutout width, open-area ratio and edge clearances against the intended panel dimensions. During shop-drawing development, the minimum web width, open-area ratio and edge clearances should be checked; large panels can use perimeter folds, framed support and concealed stiffeners. Xinmao Metal can coordinate fabrication details, samples, finish matching and export-ready packing for the project.

Application Scenarios

Space Zoning & Partitioning :
Flexibly divide open-plan living rooms, studio apartments, or shared offices into distinct functional zones (e.g., separating a dining area from the lounge, or a workspace from the bedroom) without structural changes.

Privacy Creation :
Instantly create private nooks for changing areas, home offices, reading corners, or dressing rooms in residential or hospitality settings.

Decorative Focal Point & Backdrop :
Act as stylish art pieces, headboards behind beds, or aesthetic backdrops for video calls, photography, and live streaming.

Light & Flow Control :
Gently diffuse direct sunlight, block unwanted light, or redirect air currents to create a more comfortable micro-climate.

Concealment :
Elegantly hide clutter, storage units, utility areas, or architectural imperfections from view.

Installation Precautions
  • Confirm the cross-motif panel reference before production and installation. Keep curved wave-pattern alternatives separately identified in the drawing schedule so different patterns are not substituted or mixed unintentionally.
  • Set out the panel grid, solid accents and perimeter borders against the approved elevation. Handle the panel using the agreed frame or lifting arrangement rather than the narrow connecting webs of the cut pattern.
  • Verify substrate, fixing positions and the required frame or stiffeners for the actual opening. Do not rely on the visible patterned sheet alone as a universal support detail for different panel sizes.
  • Protect cut edges and the approved dark finish during positioning. Check frame alignment and joints before final fixing, and seek approval for any site drilling, grinding or surface repair. Further guidance: Screen system fixing and installation guidance

Architectural screens designed around the space

A decorative screen is more than a pattern applied to metal. It has to manage sight lines, light, circulation and scale while fitting the surrounding architecture. Xinmao develops every stainless steel screen as an integral component of the architectural intent—seamlessly balancing visual design with fabrication and site installation requirements.

Black Cross Motif Laser Cut Stainless Steel Screen

Cross Motifs Within A Rectangular Grid

Solid cross motifs sit within an ordered arrangement of rectangular openings, creating a structured decorative field. The repeated geometry suits retail, corporate and contemporary residential interiors where the screen is intended to read as a graphic architectural element. Pattern scale and panel proportions are developed around the project layout.

Laser Cut Detail With Defined Borders

Laser cut stainless steel forms the patterned face, while a continuous perimeter border gives the composition a clear edge. Openings and connecting webs are considered together so the decorative repeat relates to the panel outline. Material thickness, minimum web width and the final cutting detail remain project specific.

Contrasting Solid Accents And Open Patterns

Solid accents and open patterned areas offer different degrees of visual emphasis within an interior scheme. A broader metal band can relate the screen to nearby joinery or architectural lines, while the openings provide a contrasting texture. The arrangement follows the selected elevation rather than a fixed combination of decorative components.

Coordinated Motifs Across Interior Metalwork Packages

For an interior package combining cross motifs with curved wave patterns, each panel can retain its own drawing and pattern reference. A coordinated frame and finish palette can connect the designs visually without making their geometry identical. The selected motif is confirmed before cutting files and fabrication details are released.

Finish Samples And Installation Detail Development

The dark finish direction can be coordinated with the wider interior metalwork palette through an approved sample. Fabrication drawings then relate the patterned face and border to the chosen support and fixing arrangement. The exact surface treatment, frame construction and installation interfaces are confirmed for the selected screen before production.

Details that hold the screen together

A screen is most convincing when pattern, panel construction, finish and interfaces are resolved as one composition.

Solid Crosses In An Ordered Grid

Solid cross motifs sit within repeated rectangular openings, giving the primary design a clear relationship between metal and void. The resulting grid can act as a strong decorative field within retail or corporate interiors without becoming a continuous solid wall.

Defined Borders And Contrasting Solid Accents

Continuous borders and broader solid accents give the patterned face a deliberate outline. These elements can relate the screen to nearby architectural lines, while the open repeat provides contrast in texture and visual density across the selected panel composition.

Separate Motifs Within A Coordinated Package

Cross and curved wave patterns offer different decorative directions for a wider metalwork package. Each retains its own approved drawing and component reference, while a coordinated frame and finish palette can connect the designs visually across the interior.

Graphic Separation With Views Beyond

The repeated openings let the surrounding interior remain visible through the patterned metal face. This gives designers a graphic way to mark a boundary between zones while retaining visual connections. The final panel layout should relate the cross repeat to entrances, furniture and circulation.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers for architects, contractors and project teams reviewing a custom screen package.

Custom architectural stainless steel screen detail
01Is your metal screen a traditional mashrabiya?

Our products are custom metal screens that can use mashrabiya-inspired geometric patterns. Traditional mashrabiya is a specific architectural element with cultural and environmental functions. We describe modern metal interpretations by their material, pattern and project use rather than treating them as identical to historic woodwork.

02Can a mashrabiya-inspired screen improve shade and privacy?

It can provide visual screening and reduce direct sun in the right arrangement. The effect depends on orientation, pattern depth, open area, viewing angles and the building behind it. Any required daylight, solar or privacy performance should be tested or calculated for the project before it is specified.

03Can the pattern look different by day and at night?

Yes. Sun direction and interior or exterior lighting change the visible pattern, shadows and sightlines. If night-time privacy matters, review the screen with the intended lighting on both sides; daytime appearance alone is not enough to approve it.

04Can a perforated decorative screen act as a waterproof facade?

No. An open metal screen is a decorative or shading layer; the wall or facade behind it must provide the required weather protection. The project team should coordinate drainage, exposed materials, brackets and maintenance access with the building envelope design.

05What changes when a screen is used outdoors?

Outdoor use requires a separate review of exposure, material and finish selection, support, fixings, drainage, cleaning access and any project-specific wind or structural requirements. A pattern approved for an interior partition should not automatically be reused outside.

06Can a screen be supplied in one large piece?

Panel size is set by the design, sheet availability, fabrication method, stiffness, finish, packaging, shipping and site access. For larger elevations, coordinated modules often give a more practical installation route while preserving the pattern across joints.

07Can you provide drawings and samples before production?

Xinmao's published process includes project drawings, finish review and samples or mock-ups. Agree the required drawing set, sample size, approval sequence and installation interfaces in the project scope before fabrication begins.

08Where are architectural metal screens commonly used?

Typical uses include lobby features, partitions, privacy screens, restaurant and retail zoning, lift surrounds and decorative enclosures. The final screen design should respond to the circulation, sight lines and maintenance access of the space.

09Can the pattern be customised for a specific project?

Yes. A client motif, geometric reference or privacy requirement can be used as the starting point. Pattern scale and open area are then reviewed against panel size, borders, viewing distance and fabrication constraints.

10What information do you need for an initial quotation?

Please provide overall dimensions, quantity, project location, intended application, preferred finish, pattern reference and any available drawings. Provisional information should be marked so it can be reviewed separately.

11How is the material selected for a screen project?

Material selection depends on the project specification, location, required appearance, panel format and fabrication method. Xinmao primarily develops stainless steel screen packages, while final material and thickness follow approved project requirements.

12Can the screen finish match other metalwork in the project?

Finish references, approved samples and adjacent metalwork can be reviewed together. Where appearance is critical, colour, texture and grain direction should be confirmed with physical samples before production.

13Can the screen be used for both interior and exterior applications?

Both applications can be considered, but they should not use the same specification by default. Material, finish, backing structure, drainage, fixings and local exposure conditions must be reviewed for the actual project location.

14What installation information can be provided?

The installation approach depends on the project scope and surrounding construction. Wall, floor and ceiling conditions should be shared so frames, brackets, access and fixing interfaces can be discussed during detailing.

15What maintenance is normally required?

Maintenance depends on the selected material, finish, location and level of contact. Accessible joints and suitable panel divisions make cleaning easier. Final cleaning products and methods should follow the approved finish sample and project guidance.
